The History of Bolenz Jewelry
Shortly after World War II a German immigrant Walter Bolenz opened a watch and clock repair shop on North Second Avenue. That little shop evolved into Northside Jewelers. In the mid 60’s the store moved to South Second Avenue and was renamed Bolenz Jewelry. In 1979 the store was moved again to it’s current location on Chisholm Street.
Walter’s granddaughter Susan and husband Wayne Calkins purchased the store in 1992. It was still a true “Mom and Pop” operation with Wayne at the jeweler’s bench and Susan on the sales floor. Bolenz Jewelry has seen tremendous growth in the last sixteen years. Today you will find a 3000 square foot store with a staff of eight!
